Building Life Skills and Self-Confidence

Miss RemarkAble is a pageant for women with disabilities in the greater La Crosse area ages 13 and older whether or not they are Aptiv participants. This empowering event provides a platform for women to build skills, confidence, and independence through educational workshops in the morning, one-on-one interviews, and on-stage activities in a supporting and inclusive atmosphere. All contestants will receive a formal gown of their choice, their own personalized title, a crown, sash, and flowers.

About the Event

The Miss RemarkAble Pageant was created by Aptiv to celebrate abilities and give women with disabilities the opportunity to build life skills and self-confidence. All proceeds from the event benefit the Aptiv Foundation, supporting new projects, programs, initiatives, and adaptive equipment purchases that empower individuals with disabilities served by Aptiv. These efforts ensure that those living with disabilities can live more community-connected lives.

A Day To Shine: The Pageant Day Experience

The day of Miss Remarkable is nothing short of extraordinary! The morning kicks off with empowering skill-building workshops led by Aptiv’s experienced and talented recreation therapy team, where confidence and creativity take center stage. Then, it’s time to get glam! Sue Kolve’s Salon transforms our participants with professional hair and makeup, ensuring everyone feels like royalty. Adding to the magic, Miss Wisconsin herself joins the fun, sharing inspiration and encouragement.

Next, the contestants travel to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Contestants connect and bond over lunch and share stories of their experiences. After lunch, the contestants, the current Miss RemarkAble, and Miss Wisconsin, practice and rehearse. Finally, contestants step into their gowns, receive final hair and makeup touch-ups, and prepare for the main event. During the pageant, contestants are brought on stage by their chosen escorts.

Once on stage, their 'About Me' video interview will play, showcasing their family members, friends, favorite hobbies, favorite items they cherish, the art they’ve created, and why they would like to be this year's Miss RemarkAble! While only one contestant is crowned the new Miss RemarkAble, every contestant is celebrated and awarded a title. This pageant celebrates the strength and talents of women with disabilities, offering an empowering experience to build confidence, develop new skills, and highlight the unique gifts that make each participant truly remarkable.
